Max Planck-DST, India- Partner Groups have been developed as an instrument for the support of cooperative research in target areas which are scientifically promising and innovative, geared to the future and of mutual interest to Max Planck Institutes (MPI) and to the designated partner institutions in India. Max Planck-DST Partner Groups enable both the MPI and the Head of the Partner Group to continue a sustained scientific interaction. Heading a Max Planck Partner Group is a distinction. These Partner Groups are aimed at Indian post docs up to 38 years of age who, having spent at least twelve months at a Max Planck institute, have returned to an Indian research institute. This is a way for both Indian scientists and the Max Planck institutes to maintain close ties.
